Mono's main feature is that he likes to wear various objects on his head that hide his face, which may indicate his shyness or unwillingness to show his personality. His official description indicates that the character is quite purposeful and stubborn in achieving his goals. Mono is also notably cautious of his surroundings, and resourceful enough to use various objects in his surroundings to evaluate the integrity and safety of the path forward. Should they encounter them, Mono is willing to go to any lengths to end them if given the chance, such as being willing to pull the trigger of a gun to kill the Hunter, pulling the lever of the crematory machine to burn the Doctor, activating electricity near pools of water to electrocute Viewers to death etc., showing that Mono is willing to go to any lengths necessary to survive in the world without feeling remorseful for any resident he does not know. He has a degree of compassion, being very clearly disturbed by the decaying bodies in the Hunter's house, as well as initially being shocked upon seeing Six in her monster form when he finds her in the Signal Tower.Īlthough Mono shows compassion for some, he is not hesitant to kill any foes who intends to harm him and Six. He stays by her side, offering his help again when she asks for it despite her initial rejection of his assistance. Mono appears to be a noble, confident, well-meaning boy who is willing to go out of his way to help others, as shown when he persists on freeing Six from her apparent imprisonment in the Hunter's Cabin and offers his hand to her. Instead, his personality is shown in his actions, and it was stated in an interview that Mono is naturally protective. ![]() Like most other characters in the series, Mono rarely speaks. It is later shown that without the bag, Mono has a fairly skinny and slightly more angular facial structure and dark eyes. Under the paper bag he wears, Mono has short, messy black hair that sticks out a little bit. Mono can also wear items like a key on the side of his coat. He wears a one buttoned khaki trench coat that reaches below his knees above a brownish-gray shirt tucked into his long brownish-gray pants rolled up at the end. Mono is a short and scrawny pale-skinned boy whose face is hidden by a light brown paper bag with two round eye holes that allow him to see. ![]() His thin paper mask offers some respite, helping him forget that the world outside hates him, and wants him to fail - but he can't stay hidden forever. ĭespite optimal treatment, the elderly population remains at an increased risk for all-cause mortality. The 2016 European guidelines on CVD prevention in clinical practice place patients with PAD in the very high-risk category. Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is a major noncoronary manifestation of CVD. Ītherosclerotic CVD is characterized by atheromatous plaques that lead to blood flow restrictions and eventually tissue ischemia. Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of death, and more than two-thirds of CVD-related deaths occur in the geriatric population. Aging represents a key cardiovascular risk factor and is associated with alterations of the cardiovascular system. The global share of people aged 65 years or over is expected to double from 12% in 2010 to 22% by 2040. Further risk stratification through biomarkers in this high-risk population of octo- and nonagenarians with PAD is necessary.Īging is inevitable. Our study demonstrates that cardiovascular biomarkers and CLTI are the primary predictors of increased mortality in elderly PAD patients. In a control group of an equal number of younger individuals, only NT-proBNP (HR: 4.2, 95% CI 1.2–14.1) and CLTI (HR: 6.1, 95% CI 1.6–23.4) were predictive of mortality. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis using a combination of all predictors yielded an improved area under the curve of 0.888. Multivariate regression revealed that each increment of 1 standard deviation in log troponin and log NT-proBNP was associated with a 2.7-fold (95% CI 1.8–4.1) and a 1.9-fold (95% CI 1.2–2.9) increased risk of all-cause death. The troponin level was the major predictor of all-cause mortality (HR: 4.6, 95% confidence interval : 1.4–15.3), followed by the NT-proBNP level (HR: 3.9, 95% CI 1.8–8.8) and CLTI (HR: 3.1, 95% CI 1.6–5.9). ResultsĪ total of 123 octo- and nonagenarians admitted for PAD were eligible. Hazard ratios were calculated and survival was analyzed by Kaplan-Meyer curves and receiver operating characteristic curved were assessed for troponin-ultra and N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) levels and chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI). MethodsĬases of treated octo- and nonagenarians, including the clinical characteristics and markers of myocardial injury and heart failure, were studied retrospectively with respect to all-cause mortality. The objective of this study was to investigate predictors of mortality in octo- and nonagenarians with PAD. ![]() Despite optimal treatments, mortality in the high-risk population of octo- and nonagenarians with PAD remains excessive, and predictive factors need to be identified. The prevalence of peripheral artery disease (PAD) is high in elderly patients and is associated with a worse prognosis. Among changes in demographics, aging is the most relevant cardiovascular risk factor. ![]() ![]() And so I developed it with that idea and I believed with all my heart that Disney had to make this fairy tale. ![]() I was attracted to the story because of what I imagined to be Rapunzel's irrepressible nature. A health issue led him to turn the helm over to Bolt's Nathan Greno and Byron Howard, but Keane remained involved in this long production, ultimately receiving credit as animation supervisor, directing animator, and executive producer. And he returned to action on Tangled.īack when it was called Rapunzel: Unbraided and simply Rapunzel, Keane was to make his directorial debut. Keane was there in the middle of this century's first decade, when Disney disavowed traditional animation, an invitation to look elsewhere to pursue his preferred medium of thirty years. Lending his touch to less acclaimed features like The Rescuers and Pete's Dragon. He was there twelve years before that boom, Keane was front and center during Disney's 1990s renaissance, supervising animation of title characters in the beloved musicals The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin. Glen Keane's career extends as far back as practically anyone working in animation today. |
